Each year the City of Tucson allocates approximately $.65 cents per capita to support cultural enrichment agencies. For Fiscal Year 2005-06, TPAC was able to directly grant $349,200 to nonprofit arts and cultural organizations. Of this total, half is allocated to each of two granting categories: General Operating Support (GOS), and Project Grants, which represent the various artistic disciplines.
Peer Grant Review Panels consisting of community members and arts professionals review each application and rate it according to specified criteria. For FY 2005-06, TPAC received 113 applications. The 72 Project Grant requests totaled $385,437, for which $174,600 was available. The 41 GOS applications (which do not specify a requested amount) were allocated funds based on organizational budget.
