The Pima County Youth Arts Award (PCYAA) is a scholarship program designed to identify, recognize and encourage talented high school seniors within Pima County who demonstrate excellence in Dance, Music, Theater, Visual Arts, Media Arts, or Literary Arts. PCYAA is an opportunity to show your talents and win a scholarship to Pima Community College towards an Associates Degree in the Arts. $1,000 to 2,000 scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors. Since 1999, the Tucson Pima Arts Council has partnered with Pima Community College and others to offer scholarships for high school seniors within Pima County to study at Pima Community College towards an Associates Degree in the Arts.
Panelists reviewed videos, cassettes, slides and manuscripts in Dance, Music, Theater, Visual Arts, Media Arts and Literary Arts, evaluating the work based on artistic quality. Their decision was based on originality, style, composition and context.
Every year scholarship recipients are recognized at the Crystal Apple Awards Luncheon hosted by the Metropolitan Education Commission.
