The Spring Tucson Artists' Open Studios
Tucson Artists' Open Studios are once again artist-initiated for May 10-11, 2008 Noon to 5:00 pm. This year, the tour will be focused downtown and coordinated with the assistance of WAMO, the Warehouse Arts Management Organization. WAMO is working to ensure the future of the Historic Warehouse Arts District as a crucial element of the economic development of the entire Tucson region. Kickoff reception: Thursday, May 8th, 6-8 pm at the Dinnerware Arts Incubator Gallery, 108 E Congress (next to GRILL). For artist listings, maps, and more information, visit: www.tucsonopenstudios.com

The ArtsCulture Partnership Gallery
Artist Reception with L.A.T. demonstration Saturday, May 31, 7:00 to 9:00 pm. at the ArtCulture Partnership Gallery 949 E. 35th Street. The ArtsCulture Partnership Galley is pleased to partner with Arts for All, Inc. for an exhibition of Laser Art Techniques (L.A.T.) artwork, May 6 – June 16, 2008. The exhibition will feature pieces by Brent Quihuis, Shekitha Strong, Jared Esquibel, Brian Mondeau, Antonio Childress and Jacob Gilbert, all artists with limited mobility employing the Laser Art Technique. L.A.T. is an innovative technique devised for artists with limited mobility to direct the production of their own artwork. Utilizing a laser mounted on custom headgear, the artists work with a tracker, who is trained to be his/her hands. As with all art, this work can serve as a means of communication between the maker and viewer -- expressing a personal vision and encounter with the world that may be similar or different from our own. Arts for All, Inc. provides accessible education, training, and experience in the Arts to children, particularly those with special needs, and adults with disabilities. The L.A.T. Exhibition showcases the work of adult artists with limited mobility and varying disabilities. The lead tracker and Arts for All art teacher, Harriett Morton, was recently nominated for a 2008 Tucson Pima Arts Council Arts Educator Lumie Award and Arts for All, Inc. just received the 2008 Governor’s Arts Award. Aspiring artists of all abilities are breaking down the barriers of artistic silence and now find themselves in the creative spotlight at Arts for All, Inc.
For additional information on L.A.T. or any of Arts for All, Inc. projects please contact Marcia Berger at 520-622-4100 or visit www.artsforallinc.org.
