The Tucson Pima Arts Council, in collaboration with the owner of Downtown Tucson’s historic Pioneer Building, invites Tucson and Pima County artists to submit images for review for exhibition in the Entrance Lobby and adjoining TPAC Conference Room.
Exhibitions’ Duration, Reception and Publicity
Four exhibitions will be displayed for approximately 12 weeks. The show will be installed seasonally. The Arts Council will host an opening reception for each exhibition. Announcements and publicity will be managed electronically, with links to the websites of exhibiting artists.
Media and Dimensions
Artwork in any medium, including three-dimensional art, is welcome. Artists—such as sculptors or makers of small objects—whose work requires sculpture stands or display cases will have to provide stands and cases. Three-dimensional artwork cannot exceed 8 feet in height or weigh more than 350 pounds. All artwork must be professionally framed. Large series and diptych/triptych pieces are discouraged due to the conditions of the spaces.
Security, Insurance and Sales
None of the spaces are only gallery space, and none are entirely secure. Notwithstanding the security challenges, the Arts Council will fully insure all artwork during the period of installation, exhibition, and take-down. Individual works of art on exhibition may or may not be for sale. In the event of sales, exhibiting artists are asked to contribute 25% of each sale to the Arts Council to help cover exhibition costs.
Artists interested in this exhibition opportunity are invited to attend a Pre-submission meeting in the Pioneer Building, 100 N. Stone Ave. Suite 109, at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday August 20. At the meeting, artists will have the opportunity to view the exhibition spaces and assess whether this opportunity meets their aspirations.
Submissions will be reviewed and selected by a panel of visual arts professionals and community representatives. Artists who would like to have their artwork considered for display are required to submit 8 images of artwork created within the last 3 years.
Images must be submitted electronically in JPG file format (300 dpi and no larger than 8 inches) and include the artist’s name on each jpeg. Provide contact information and an image list of your 8 images. The image list must be in the form of a Word file and include the following information for each work of art:
- Very brief description of the artwork
- Year in which the artwork was created
- Dimensions (height x width x depth)
