Research Projects

TPAC’s past research activity has informed local policy, cultural planning, and strategic planning for the region. Current initiatives will shape data collection, reporting and statistics for years to come.

The following is a summary of research projects that continue to influence arts and cultural policy in Pima County.

Arizona Cultural Data Project — An innovative online data collection system for standardizing historical financial data for organizations throughout Arizona.

Arts & Economic Prosperity IV — A federal study coordinated by Americans for the Arts (AFTA) that will measure the economic impact of arts and culture programming in Pima County.

Local Arts Index — A federally coordinated project sponsored by Americans for the Arts (AFTA). The first project of its kind, the study will provide local measures for the health and vitality of the arts in Pima County.

Pima Cultural Plan –  Completed in 2008, this plan informed the development of the P.L.A.C.E. initiative and informs the cultural planning process for the region.

Civic Engagement — An initial study completed in partnership with researchers from the University of Pennsylvania.

Cultural Asset Mapping — A project funded by an Our Town grant from the National Endowment for the Arts focusing on cultural asset mapping and community engagement for Tucson’s Historic Warehouse Arts District.
