Marketing and Communications Specialist
The Marketing and Communications Specialist is the lead individual responsible for the development and implementation of marketing strategies for the Tucson Pima Arts Council (TPAC), the designated art council for the City of Tucson and Pima County. TPAC’s mission is to “foster artistic expression, civic participation and the economic growth of our diverse community by supporting, promoting and advocating for arts and culture.” TPAC provide arts and cultural development services through direct funding, technical assistance, commissions / contracts to artists and arts organizations, and to select cultural projects.
Job summary: The Specialist will lead the crafting of the TPAC marketing message; develop and implement marketing strategies for TPAC; identify and cultivate relevant media platforms and forums for the dissemination of TPAC messaging and information.
The Specialist will be responsible for telling the story of the arts and cultural life in Southern Arizona. The Specialist will create a strategic marketing and outreach plan that is proactive and innovative and will engage current audiences and identify and reach new audiences. This plan will position TPAC as responsive to the local artists it serves, the larger Tucson community, as well as local and national funders–including business leaders, government, foundations, and opinion makers.
Reports to: Executive Director
Supervisory responsibility: The Specialist works in consultation with the Communications and Marketing Committee of the Board
Salary: $15,000 PT (Based on a 20hr wkly work schedule)
Essential job duties include:
Education: BA English, marketing, communications or related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications: An understanding of Tucson and its unique sense of place is critical to the development of the marketing and communications plan, as is an understanding of how the arts contribute to and lead economic development and civic well-being. The ideal Marketing and Communications Specialist candidate has the ability to craft a narrative that reflects the challenges and successes of the arts community; and expertise and ability to assess and apply appropriate social media tools to further the mission and message of TPAC.
